The Bathroom was the main room that we really wanted to change when we moved in. To start with, it's a very small room (no room for a bath!) but it was all a bit old and tired, the floor tiles were cracking, the shower screen was broken, the towel rail was in a stupid position etc etc.
The plan is:
- Strip out entire room and suite to floorboards and plaster.
- Re-work any existing pipe work to replace original electric shower unit with new bar unit.
- Create sturdy floor surface using moisture resistant cement board
- Tile walls and floor
- Plaster ceiling to cover artex finish and install 4 new LED downlighters.
- Fit new toilet, quadrant shower unit, vanity unit and sink.
- Fit new heated towel rail in more suitable position away from edge of door.
Luckily my old man is pretty handy when it comes to all things DIY so I forced him to move into the house for 2 weeks and help with the stuff I wasn't sure about (all of it). Good old Dad.
My brother kindly came down and help for the stripout as well. Nothing like a bit of manly crowbar action and hitting things to bring a family together.
Before photos:
The strip-out begins, and with the help of a Makita SDS drill and bolster bit, takes hardly any time at all!
